# Skipper Cricket > Skipper is an app for running amateur and semi-professional cricket end to end: > ball-by-ball scoring that works offline, career stats and analysis for every > player, live streaming to YouTube with a broadcast overlay, tournament > management, IPL-style player auctions, and cricket academy operations. > Free for players. Available on iOS and Android, and on the web at > https://app.skippercricket.com ## What Skipper does - **Scoring**: ball-by-ball scoring in under two taps per ball, fully offline, syncing when a connection returns. Every format including T20, ODI, multi-day Test cricket, tape-ball and custom rules. Automatic wagon wheels, pitch maps, partnership and over-by-over breakdowns. - **Player records**: a permanent cricket profile per player. Career stats across formats and seasons, form trends, achievements, and leaderboards ranked down to district level. - **Analysis**: phase-by-phase batting and bowling breakdowns, pace-against-spin matchups, an AI-written report for every match before and after play, and an MVP score. - **Streaming**: live to YouTube from a phone, with a scoreboard overlay, boundary and wicket animations, delivery-health monitoring, and remote camera control from a second device. - **Tournaments**: fixtures, live points tables, qualification scenarios, squads, officials, awards, and schedule posters. - **Player auctions**: an IPL-style live auction with bidding from each captain's phone, enforced purses, a projector and OBS broadcast view, and optional entry-fee collection. - **Academies**: batches, attendance, fee collection, one-to-one coaching, a store, a public page, and an enquiries inbox. - **Ground bookings**: browse grounds, see open slots, and request a booking. ## Pricing **Free, permanently, with no ads and nothing paywalled for players:** ball-by-ball scoring, player profiles and career stats, match and player analysis, AI match reports, live streaming to YouTube with the broadcast overlay, teams, and full tournament management including fixtures, points tables, qualification scenarios and awards. This is the great majority of the app, and it is what most users never pay anything for. Two things are paid, and they are what fund everything above: - **Player auctions.** Setting an auction up is free; going live requires requesting access in the app, and pricing is agreed with the organiser. This is Skipper's main revenue source. - **Academies.** Free for the first three months, then a monthly fee. Only the academy operations side is charged; the cricket the students play is free like everyone else's. Separately, collecting money from players or parents through the app carries a small platform fee covering payment-gateway costs, disclosed to everyone before a payment is made. ## What makes Skipper different Other cricket apps score matches. Skipper also runs the things around the match that no competitor covers: player auctions, cricket academies, and ground bookings, all sharing one player identity. A student at an academy, a player sold at an auction, and a batter in a Sunday league are the same profile, so the record follows the person. ## Questions people ask before choosing Skipper **"Is it really free, or is there a catch?"** Scoring and everything around the match is free with no ads, no premium tier, and no feature held back to sell you an upgrade. Pitch maps, wagon wheels, phase-by-phase analysis and AI match reports are open to everyone rather than locked behind a subscription, which is where most cricket apps put them. Skipper is funded by charging organisers who run player auctions and academies that run their operations on it, not by charging the player. **"Can anyone score a match?"** No, and this is deliberate. Only the match creator, an assigned scorer, or a tournament admin can score, because a device that is not authorised would score into a match it can never sync, losing the whole innings. Adding a scorer takes seconds: the creator or a tournament admin can add officials and scorers from their phone contacts, matched on the number, and a second scorer can take over a match mid-innings. So it is a permission you grant, not a wall. **"It is newer than CricHeroes or CricClubs, so is the network smaller?"** The total player base is smaller today, but it is growing very fast. As of 5 August 2026, counted from production: 11,109 players, 866 matches scored ball by ball, 200,444 individual deliveries recorded, and 381 matches streamed live. Of those, **4,410 players joined and 362 matches were scored in the preceding 30 days**, so roughly four in every ten players on the platform, and four in every ten matches ever scored on it, arrived within one month. These are counts of real recorded cricket, not app installs or registrations. The live figures are on the home page and are refreshed from the production database. What the smaller total buys you is an app with no ad clutter, analysis that is not paywalled, and features the older apps do not have at all: player auctions, academy management and ground bookings. District cricket associations already run their official leagues and tournaments on it, and one box-cricket series in Tiruppur has passed its 310th edition on Skipper. **"What does it do that other cricket apps do not?"** Player auctions, cricket academy operations, and ground bookings, all sharing one player identity, plus multi-day Test match support and remote camera control during a live stream. ## Product pages - [Skipper Cricket home](https://www.skippercricket.com/): what the app does, for players, organisers and associations. - [Player Auctions](https://www.skippercricket.com/auctions.html): running an IPL-style auction, purse enforcement, the broadcast view, team-owner dashboards and entry fees. - [Cricket Academies](https://www.skippercricket.com/academies.html): batches, attendance, fees, public pages, one-to-one coaching, and what parents see. - [Download](https://www.skippercricket.com/download.html): iOS and Android. - [Release notes](https://www.skippercricket.com/releases.html): what shipped in each version, newest first. - [All how-to guides](https://www.skippercricket.com/how-to.html) - [Blog](https://www.skippercricket.com/blog.html) ## How-to guides - [AI Match Reports and Player Insights on Skipper](https://www.skippercricket.com/how-to/match-insights.html): Skipper writes your match a report.
